Mini Make Over

Hey guys!!! This tutorial was done inside our teachers office last Wednesday, we were done with our grades so we were like dilly dallying. I wanted to be the mad scientist and Teachers Pia and Leoann were willing to be my experiments (laughing)!!!
Please bear with me, I am not a professional makeup artist, still learning and willing to try and experiment.

Teacher Pia's Look

Pia wants a simple and neutral makeup, more like a fresh daytime look.

Apply Faceshop's Hydro Splash BB cream, gives a natural coverage.
the result

Use concealer to cover under eye circles and dark spots
 (elf under eye concealer)

Apply Urban Decay's eye primer potion to prevent eyeshadow from fading, creasing and smudging.

FYI: Creases are the result of movements of the eyelid that are the result of simply blinking and normal eye movements. Eyeshadow primer works to keep these creases from appearing and can also help to boost the vibrancy of the eyeshadow color.
After applying BB cream, concealer and eye primer, you can already see a sheer coverage.

Let's start with mixing the highlighter and the pinkish shade to achieve a softer look. Apply it all over the lid.

Apply the gold shade (*) mostly on the center part of the lid.
After applying, go back again using a fluffy brush to blend the highlighter and the gold shade. Use a darker shade of brown (first column, fourth color from left to right ) on the outer V corner of the eye going upwards blending all the colors together to create a more dimensional and clean look. I forgot to take a picture of the eyeliner that I used, the elf waterproof eyeliner gel pen sorry :(

To create a blooming look, I used Human Nature's mineral blush in Petal Bloom.
I want to make Pia's eyes more awake. I used VS white eyeliner pencil and stila's eye liner on her lower lash line.

  THE FINAL RESULT!!!

LIGHT MAKE UP LOOK

Model number 2
Teacher leoann known as Guo Lao Sher.
A simple/pretty girl, rarely wears makeup. I wanted to try "the edgy" look on her. Best for parties and night occasions.

OK, I started with Faceshop's HD (high definition) BB cream, applied eye concealer and Human Nature's face powder in Orient Pearl.

All covered up, you can see a flawless finish. Don't worry BB creams can moisturize your face, has SPF and can cure blemishes (blemish balm), more like an age rewinder.

Thickly apply stila's (shown above) eye gel liner pencil, just like applying eyeliner.
I used Lancome's sensational effects eye shadow in metallic, applying it to the center of her lid.

Use blending brush to blend the eyeliner and the eyeshadow.

Curl lashes with eyelash curler and apply mascara.
For the lower lashes, use white eye pencil and black eyeliner pen to make eyes more fresh and awake.

Lightly apply Human Nature's mineral blush in rosy cheeks

Whew! so thats it. Simple light day makeup (Pia) and edgy smokey eyes look (Leoann). I would like to thank the girls for being so patient and willing to be a part of the makeup process. I also want to thank my cousin, shawie who generously gives me free products and
never fails to teach me the tips and tricks about makeup.

Have a great day,

Curl your lashes using a spoon!!!

Curl your lashes everyday, it stimulates the roots and you will grow longer lashes.Curled lashes open up your eyes and makes you look more awake.

There are also some natural alternatives to make your lashes grow longer. You can use Castor oil, Olive oil or Sunflower oil. Just rub some oil on your fingers and apply it to your eyelashes or you can also use a mascara free wand (apply it the way you apply mascara), make sure it's clean.

I have a new discovery!!! Curling my eyelashes using a spoon! I will never bring my eyelash curler, instead I'll be keeping a spoon inside my makeup kit, for eating and curling :) ding!!!

Here are the simple and funny steps:

Get a spoon!!!

Let's start with the outer corner, use the curve of the spoon and stick it above the base of your lashes.
Use your middle finger to lock the spoon to your eyelashes.
Gently press the spoon against the lash and firmly pull them up.

to curl the inner part, use the tip of the spoon and repeat the same steps :)

THE RESULT!!!
LOOKS NATURAL RIGHT?!!

Let's compare, shall we?

the spoon vs the eyelash curler
you decide...
As you can see the spoon gives out a natural curl. The curler on the other hand gives a stiff appearance.

To add some drama, apply fashion 21's blue eyeliner, only 85 pesos at Robinsons Dept. Store.

Watcha waitin' for!!! Save the drama for your mama and start curling your eyelashes with a spoon!!!

Always smile,

homemade wax

I was looking forward to buy cold wax in a local store last Friday afternoon and I was deeply disappointed to know that it was not available anymore so I decided to make my own.
I've read that waxing was an Egyptian secret, it's part of their spirituality since beauty was their way to be pleasing to the gods. One of their secret technique is the art of hair removal.

the recipe is very simple :)

 2 cups brown sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup distilled water

 * lemon acts as an acid/preservative and it can slow down the crystallization (hard candy) process

mix everything
do not use teflon pan

the next step is the most challenging part

Use low to medium heat to cook the mixture

Stir constantly for about 8-10 minutes, if the mixture comes to a boil lift it up and wait for the mixture to settle down then place it back again.
all done!!!
If you want to test if it is ready, is the cold water method, take a spoonful of the mixture and dip it in cold water.

dip and lift the spoon, if you can mold it using your fingers and can hold its shape then you are done :)

*******************************************************************************

The procedure:

Use a plastic knife, spoon or popsicle stick, spread a thin layer over the skin (opposite direction of hair growth).
Let it cool so that it won’t burn your skin. Test it using the palm of  your hand.

Place paper on top of the mixture and rub it. Pull the wax in the opposite direction of the hair growth.
*******************************************************************************
Store the mixture in a jar do not refrigerate. If you want to reuse it again, please check the pic below.

dip in hot water

*This method is skin friendly since it does not contain any harmful chemicals. It is so gentle that it can be applied to any body part or skin type. Hair grows finer and lighter. Makes your skin smoother too!
